The Most Important Skill to have... Making Coffee

Before I came to Macedonia I heard that coffee is a thing. Like you will drink it basically everyday, several times a day without even realizing it. I was never really a coffee drinker back home. The daily morning coffee and occasional frappuccino from Starbucks was about how far I went. I never learned how to make it because 1. I'm lazy and 2. Keurigs are a wonderful invention. But today that all changed.

As my office mate and I were sitting another colleague came in and deep down I knew it was coffee time, but today I was to apart of the process. #yay. I was told that I will be taught and then next time, it would be all on me, pressure right? As I stood there very attentively I drifted for a moment and thought wow, this is a skill that I would have never thought to learn.

We continued through the process; however many people you have is how many spoons of coffee. Then we measured the water, every person gets a cup. And the cups are so cute y'all, like I can't even deal with the cuteness. Now we placed this cute little pot on this cute little contraption, and waited for it to boil. I must now purchase a lighter so we are never without fire for the gas. Then we waited. I sat down and then was prompted to keep a close eye on our lil baby pot. Once it was hot, it was time to pour. Ever so carefully we poured the coffee into 4 small cups. My final job was to serve the coffee to everyone in our precious office. I felt very helpful and now want to continue making coffee for everyone I see. #alldone

Now to most you may be thinking, are you serious, you sat down and wrote a post about making coffee. Yes! I am serious! I feel so much life now, and that's not the caffeine talking. I was taught something that is second nature here and back in the states we have appliances that do it for us. My Macedonian Adventure is not just about going places and taking pictures of nice scenery. It is my life and the experiences that I have while I am over here. It can be as subtle as making coffee or as obvious as climbing a mountain.
