Can someone explain to me why I had to come all the to Macedonia to eat a pierogi? Like what kind of sense does that make? Am I upset, a lil. But now I know that I need to broaden my Happy Meal and Bubble Tea diet that I was on, and stuck to. But anywho, on Tuesday the 23rd it was a national holiday which means what, NO SCHOOL #turnthestoveupforpierogis. I was invited to participate in Pierogi and Broccoli Cheddar Soup Day, which will now be a sub holiday all Peace Corps Volunteers and Fulbrighters in and around Tetovo have to do #justdoit. Although I didn't actually make the delicious little pockets of love, I watched and took pictures as I saw people from all over the states who just so happened to be in this country, in this city at the same time #enjoying life.

My experiences thus far have been hit or miss, but when I was watching these young adults cook and bond I could only think, wow, I am so blessed.

Before coming here I didn't know any of these fabulous people. And in a matter of hours I felt so much love and caring pouring from them. I didn't think that this would be something that I would 1. experience and 2. have the urge to make it a national holiday. You never know what is going to happen, and what friendships will be made when you sign on that dotted line to move halfway across the world. One thing that this lovely country has taught me is to just go with the flow. Y'all know good and well I need a schedule of some sort lol.

I think what people need to realize when applying to go to other countries is, don't set expectations. When you do that and you are let down you get mad and want to go home. Come into the experience with the attitude to learn. Everyday will not be roses and daisies but keeping your mind open and focused on why you applied will help you through it.

I've now been here a month and have experienced a lot in this month that I never thought I would have to experience, the bad side. But I have also experienced so much that I never thought I could fall in love with. Pierogies are a prime example.

Take it from me precious souls, when life hands you lemons, don't settle for lemonade... make a pie, a custard, some ice cream, invisible ink, a pierogi lemon concoction, and other great stuff lemons help do.

Until next time, look up how to make a pierogi, you won't regret it. OR just ask my new friend Nadia, #loveher
